The Christmas Lesson

This past Christmas was unlike any of the other Christmas’ I’ve had in the past, but in the best way possible! Normally on Halloween, my family goes outside and puts up our Christmas Lights as an annual “NOT TODAY satan'' tradition. However this year, with the hustle and bustle going on, we didn’t have the opportunity to repeat this tradition as well as many others. Things like putting lights on the Christmas Tree, baking gingerbread cookies, and driving to see Christmas Tree Lane didn’t seem to make the list. Now you're probably asking, well Sis what did you do this Christmas then without all that stuff?!?!? The answer is that I had the opportunity to focus on Who and What matters most, Jesus and Celebrating His Birth! I’ve realized that with all the decorations and distractions over the years, The Real Reason for the Season got lost in all the tinsel and wrapping paper. Jesus chose to come down and save us from our sins, He didn’t have too, and that’s something I think we tend to forget! Through recognition of God’s Choice to love us so much that He sent His Son, I was reminded of how important our choices are. Your choice to do what God wants you to do instead of what you want to do may be the very difference between no change and a world of change. So as we enter this New Year, let us remind each other that life is a gift, and everyday that we get here on earth is another opportunity for us to thank The Lord with our lives, and through our everyday choices. He gave it all for us, let’s give our all for Him!
